The objective of this report is to present the most promising valorization pathways for Sargassum biomass for attracting investment for their commercialization, with the ultimate goal of providing commercially viable solutions to address the Sargassum influxes in the Caribbean context. The assessment includes details on the different stages.
involved in the valorization of Sargassum biomass, and aims to provide economic analyses of each of the various valorisation approaches identified, with indicative investment costs (based on available information) for each valorization process. The added value of this report is that it synthesises the most current available information from private sector organizations and ongoing research projects, thus facilitating the identification of the challenges and limitations (as well as the processes required to overcome them) in valorising Sargassum biomass.
