The project's main objective was to equip the government of Sao Tome and Principe with a strategic guidance tool for private sector promotion. The strategy aims to follow-up several studies and strategic papers that reinforce the need to improve the business climate as a pillar for the country's sustainable economic development.
In this context, the instrument is intended to be a solid foundation for:
1) Strengthening of SMEs;
2) Attraction of foreign investment.
The consultancy involved an updated diagnosis of the operation of the private sector in Sao Tome and Principe, the development of a strategy for its promotion on the horizon 2025, in line with the country's development plans, related priorities, strategic sectors and the formulation of an action plan for the implementation of the strategy with its attendant resource mobilization plan and schedule.
